Happy Memorial Day!

Yesterday was Memorial day!! Andrew and I started off the day with Smoothie King and then the beach! We got out there at 11am but only stayed until 12:30pm... we started to get red... Today Andrew looks like a buff tomato! After we left the beach, Andrew and I went to party city and got some Memorial Day decorations and wore them to my grandmothers house for a Memorial Day feast! Andrew and I can pull off Red, White, and Blue wigs better than anyone! Yesterday was fun and very relaxing... why can't everyday be just this good?

BPBC CHILDREN

This summer I am the Summer Childrens Director at Brighton Park Baptist Church in Corpus Christi TX! It has been a bumpy start... but I truly feel that the Lord is going to do some really great things with the kids here this summer. I have been working for a week now and I have been BUSY! I just finished the postcard here which is the picture on the left.. I was proud of it I decided to post it! Anyways, the kids here are excited about the summer and so am I! I want my work here to glorify the LORD!

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Matthew 19:14

Bubbly

"Bubbly" -Colbie Caillat

I've been awake for a while now You've got me feeling like a child now Cause everytime I see you're bubbly face I get the tinglies in a silly place.

It starts in my toes and I crinkle my nose Wherever it goes, I always know You make me smile please stay for a while now Just take your time, wherever you go

The rain is falling on my window pain But we are hiding in a safer place Undercover staying dry and warm You give me feelings that I adore

Its starts in my toes, make me crinkle my nose Wherever it goes, I always knowYou make me smile please stay for a while now Just take your time, wherever you go What am I gonna say When you make me feel this way I just ...hmm...

And it starts in my toes makes me crinkle my nose Wherever it goes, I always know You make me smile please stay for a while now Just take your time, wherever you go

I've been asleep for a while now You tuck me in just like a child now Cause everytime you hold me in your arms I'm comfortable enough to feel your warmth It starts in my soul and I lose all control When you kiss my nose, the feeling showsCause you make me smile Baby just take your time now Holding my tight....

Wherever, wherever, wherever you go Wherever, wherever, wherever you go.

First comes love, then comes MARRIAGE...

Guest lists, invitations, wedding bands, MONEY.... Wedding planning is super fun but can be stressful! I have so much planned already but we still have a ways to go... this next weeks task for Andrew & I is to register for gifts... he is a guy and really doesn't like to shop. But he is determined to be there with me and register for everything in every store in Corpus =-)! He is so funny... he tells me, "Now you make sure you don't do it all by yourself or feel like you have to!" Wow, what a guy! Some guys would say... "Back off Bridezilla!" Andrew is a trooper and is willing to help do anything. I love him! On Friday night we purchased my wedding band... YEAH!!!! I wish you could hear my excitement. It will be hard not wanting to wear it until the big day! Andrew can't decide what he wants for a wedding band... he is not used to wearing jewelry so this whole wearing a ring thing for him is something that he is going to have to get used to. I should probably be getting back to work.. I just wanted to talk about it! Every girl likes to talk about her wedding.. especially while she is planning it!

Let Kids be KIDS!

I need to vent a little... Why do parents push their children to act like adults? Why do they not let their children act like children? For the past couple of weeks I have been thinking about this subject a lot! I see all different kinds of kids and some are able to act like children would.. and some act like they are trained to be little adults! Now don't get me wrong... having children that obey their parents is a wonderful thing! I am talking about those children that have never been allowed to play dressed up, smear their mom' lipstick all over their face, finger paints, or even roll around in the dirt while playing outside. I also see teenagers in high school that almost have full time jobs. I know that everyone does not agree with this... but I feel that your children should be given an opportunity in high school to enjoy activities. But I also do believe that it is important to instill a great work ethic in your children. My parents let me enjoy high school until my senior year and then I started working only a couple times a week to build up until the summer before college where I worked full time. Let children be children! They have all the time in the world to work for money, drive around town, and take care of themselves. Parents, why are you so rushed to force your kids to grow up? I see the logic in teaching them life lessons and good work ethic, but there is certainly a healthy balance! I feel better now...

Haircut!

I got a new haircut... and my Mom has been bugging me about posting a picture! I cut about 5 or 6 inches off and it is much better for the summer temps. Even though I curled it this morning... you cannot tell in the picture! It is mighty humid down here on the coast! I miss all my Nashville people and the weather! The haircut makes me look older.. I look 18 now instead of 17 =-)

13 hrs... 900 Miles

Today I finally arrived in Texas for the summer!! I have traveled this trip many a time by myself but this time was particularly interesting! It started out like this... May the 2nd, 2009 I took a final exam at 2pm that hopefully I passed! After I left my exam I jumped in my car and started out for Arkadelphia, AR where I would stay the night! One hour into my trip... things got interesting! Somewhere in between Memphis and Nashville, I hit really bad weather! Within a minute I could not see the road so along with the entire right lane of cars... I pulled over! I did not realize I was on a bridge until the man in the car in front of mine ran up to my car and told me to get in my floor board- we were on bridge and there was a tornado on the ground two miles away! Not being dramatic at all... I dove underneath the steering wheel! After 5 minutes of hail, tree branches snapping, and my car shaking like crazy... the rain stopped! When we got out of our cars to look around, it looked like the tornado had passed over the top of us! It was soo scary! Then two hours down the road, I sat in stand still traffic for an hour and a half because a semi caught on fire! The first half of my trip was supposed to take 6 hours really took 8 hours and 30 minutes. I finally arrived at the very glamorous Quality Inn located in Arkadelphia, AR for the night! Today's 6 hour drive was calm and clear... Thank Goodness!!!
